Is there such a thing as sugar free vegan ice cream?

I know, I could just make my own, but I am a lazy diabetic vegan who simply wants to go to the store and buy some tasty sugarfree vegan ice cream. I have checked out most of Tofutti's stuff, and it all has sugar in it.

Note-the only sugar that I can eat is agave nectar, stevia...sometimes maple syrup and honey.

Make your own! Use soy milk instead of milk and agave nectar to sweeten. It'll be softer than regular ice cream but will taste good.

Reply:Someone here once said you can freeze ripe bananas and then run them through the blender and make a sort of "ice cream" that way.
Reply:looks like you have spotted a hole in the market. come up with a recipe and sell it to toffuti. and while I am not a vegan I do know the rules. While it's okay to bleed a helpless tree and force it to endure an open wound for weeks for maple syrup, Honey is made by bees, so it's a definite no-no.

a thumbs down already? Hmm someone doesn't like the truth.

so lets really see it! how many think its ok to torture a living thing for weeks if you get something sweet to eat out of it? signify with thumbs down.
Reply:Sorry, haven't found any. I am A diabetic too but love big old rare steaks.
Reply:As a former chef and now a vegetarian, it is almost impossible to make ice cream sorbet, sherbert or frozen yougart witout suagr, like cream or thickeners like guar gum, carragenen, the sugar not only adds sweetness it allows the solids to freeze without crystalizing, even cheap ice creams with a load of emulsifiers, corn syrups and junk has sugar.

What you would need to do to make it at home is heat some soya milk with stevia as it has a stronger sweetness when frozen I find, thicken it with a veg based thickener like tapioca or cornstarch, like with dairy ice cream, chill it and I then add it to a blender and add a bag of frozen strawberrys, then process it in a ice cream maker until froze and smooth then pack it in a container to freeze it hard, the same can be done for sorbet.

I have a Magic Bullet also and make the base and freeze it in ice cube trays, add the still frozen fruits, it can be strawberrys, raspberrys, mangos, peaches to the cup and 4 cube of the same soya based sweetened mix and buzz it, you can make an individual flavour or a multiple of any, it does not last you have to eat it in a 10 minute times or it reverts back to a puree.
Reply:I have never seen an ice cream without sugar... even at our health food store which has several vegan varieties, they all have organic cane sugar in them. Maybe you're on to a new product? You could market and sell this for other lazy diabetic vegans!
Reply:I've never seen it. Maybe you can find an accidentally vegan sugar free sorbet.

I know you said you're too lazy to make your own, but if you ever do get the urge, there is some awesome banana-based raw ice cream recipes out there. When you process it long enough, you don't taste the banana. I have/had a recipe for a raw vegan butter pecan type ice cream that was great.
